James Sconzo is a shareholder and chair of the Labor & Employment and Education practices for Carlton Fields, P.A. He is a “go-to” adviser for all aspects of the labor, employment, and education laws and rules affecting public and private sector organizations and institutions. He is a skilled trial lawyer, negotiator, investigator, and proven leader. He is a renowned negotiator of workplace disputes and organizational issues, and has represented numerous clients in both individual and class-based arbitrations and litigation matters. Jim is also the president of Core Triangle Consulting LLC, a separate, wholly owned subsidiary of Carlton Fields that provides a variety of human capital management consulting services. Jim holds leadership positions in the Connecticut Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law, Litigation, and Education Law sections.

Many U.S. companies increasingly are facing public scrutiny from investors and others for lackluster DEI program results and avoidable EEO misconduct issues — whether involving alleged harassment or other misdeeds. This presentation will: (1) examine the top missteps companies make in heading off, and responding to, consumer and investor concerns around EEO and DEI issues; (2) discuss recent headline-grabbing cases; and (3) provide strategies for maximizing DEI and EEO success and minimizing fallout from avoidable mistakes.
