Kristy Lowther is the Program Manager for RTI’s Strategic Engagement & Belonging (SEB) program. She leads RTI's Employee Resource Group (ERG) Leadership Council and provides strategic oversight, budgetary input, interpersonal guidance, and mentorship to leaders and employees across the Institute. She supports overall Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging at RTI and collaborates extensively with the Racial Justice and Equity program. Mx. Lowther is responsible for creating and implementing organizational DEI strategies, and she is an expert in the design, development, and delivery of in-depth LGBTQ+ training. She is one of the founding co-chairs of the RTI Pride: LGBTQ+ ERG that provides community and professional development for LGBTQ+ employees and contributes significantly to RTI’s inclusive workplace culture.

Boldly create change and expand gender inclusivity in your workplace by helping supportive allies grow into proactive advocates for transgender and non-binary employees. By the end of this session, you will be able to (1) think strategically about asking someone’s pronouns; (2) challenge assumptions, especially in virtual spaces; (4) incorporate affirming language into everyday communications; (5) explore the power in visible leadership support and (6) take responsibility to ensure safe spaces for transgender and non-binary employees.
