Valentín Estévez, Ph.D.
Valentín Estévez, Ph.D. is a Vice President in the Labor and Employment Practice at Charles River Associates. He performs statistical analyses of claims of employment discrimination filed under federal and state statutes and of alleged violations of the FLSA and state wage and hour regulations. Dr. Estévez has helped government contractors throughout the country and in numerous industries prepare for and respond to OFCCP audits. Besides his litigation work, Dr. Estévez regularly advises clients on pay equity and pay gap issues and has completed hundreds of privileged pay equity studies under federal, state, and international pay equity regulations. He presents frequently on the application of economics, statistics, and advanced data analysis techniques in labor and employment matters. Dr. Estévez is currently a member of the NILG Advisory Council.

The US labor market shows historically high numbers of separations and unfilled job openings. As contractors struggle to retain employees and fill openings, the OFCCP is increasing its hiring audits and plans to closely scrutinize the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) hiring tools. In this session, we will discuss the stages of an OFCCP hiring audit, from the initial request through the conciliation in process. You will learn best practices to prepare and respond to an OFCCP hiring audit, including responding to the agency’s statistical analyses and backpay demands.
